How can we help?
Find a quick answer or send our team a question. We’ll guide it to the people who know that topic best.
Help that meets you where you are.
A clear answer, without the fine-print maze.
These answers are general guidance. Your issued policy and declarations control your coverage.
Is my online price an insurance policy?+
No. The public experience provides an estimate only. Coverage starts only after an application is approved, payment is completed, policy documents are issued, and the confirmed effective date arrives.
How long does an estimate take?+
Most people can complete the initial home or auto estimate in about three minutes. More information and verification are required if you choose to continue with an application.
Can I get an estimate outside Delaware?+
Shield currently provides home and auto estimates for Delaware addresses only. Availability can still vary by product and the facts of an application.
What is a deductible?+
A deductible is the amount you generally pay toward a covered loss before insurance pays its share. Your declarations and policy explain which deductible applies; coverage always depends on the issued policy terms.
How do I request a policy or coverage change?+
Sign in to your account to review your current policy and start a change request. A request does not change coverage until Shield confirms it and provides any updated documents or premium.
When does coverage begin?+
Coverage begins on the effective date shown in an issued policy, after all required approvals and payment steps are complete. An estimate, application, or submitted question does not create coverage.
Where can I see my bill or make a payment?+
Sign in to your account and open Billing to see the amount due, due date, and available payment options. Do not send card or bank information through the contact form.
Why is my payment still pending?+
Some payments need time to be confirmed by the payment provider. Check your account for the latest status. If it remains pending, contact us with your policy or application reference—but never include full payment details.
How do I report a claim?+
Use Report a claim in your account so the loss enters the secure claims process. If anyone is injured or in immediate danger, call 911 first. A contact-form question does not open a claim.
What information should I have for a claim?+
Share what happened, when and where it happened, who was involved, and any immediate safety concerns. Photos and documents may help, but report the loss promptly even if some details are still unknown.
What should I do if I cannot sign in?+
Confirm you are using the email connected to your policy or application. If secure sign-in still fails, choose Account access in the contact form and tell us the error you see. Never include a password or verification code.
How do I get proof of insurance?+
Issued policy documents and proof of insurance are available from the Documents area of your account. Contact us under Documents if an expected file is missing.
